Nisekoi is a Giant Tease of Fun

Nisekoi01

Not too long ago an anime called Nisekoi came to an end. Adapted by studio Shaft from the manga sharing the same name, it was a harem anime in the purest of senses. Every episode more or less featured the most common clichés you can find in harem series and the whole premise – a forgotten childhood love – is built to create misunderstandings and hijinks. Not to mention how it throws in a forced fake relationship just for the heck of it.

It may sound like the most unexciting series ever created which is not difficult to understand – after all, there is only so much you can do with the barebones framework Nisekoi sets up – yet I still love every second of it. Continue reading

12 Days of Christmas 2013 #01 – A Hidamari Graduation

HidamariSketchSaeHiro2

Hidamari Sketch, how I love you. We have shared a magical time these past four seasons. We have smiled, laughed and been sad together. You comforted me when I felt down and made me reflect over my own life when I needed it. I was one of the residents of the Hidamari Apartments.

Sadly, not everything can last forever and it was now time to give our farewells. Continue reading

Why Shaft is My Favorite Anime Studio

HidamariSketchHeadtilt2

Obligatory head tilt.

To start, I want to say that I am sorry for not having updated for quite some time. I caught the flu and cannot say I was in a state to blog anything coherent. I hope you understand.

Everyone probably has their own favorite anime studio for one reason or another. Mine is Shaft, the studio that is both hated and loved for their unique approach to directing anime (thanks to Akiyuki Shinbou).

I will probably be accused of being an extremely shallow person for saying this, but this happens to be the very reason I love Shaft so much. Continue reading

12 Days of Christmas 2012 #01 – The Ending of Sayonara Zetsubou Sensei Has Left Me in Despair!

ZetsubouMangaEndingv2

Even so, the circus will come for you…

I will not spoil the ending of the Sayonara Zetsubou Sensei manga. If you are interested in spoilers, you can check out THIS thread or the following hilarious threads from when the final chapter was released: 1, 2, 3. Even better, try finding the final chapters online (I suggest starting from chapter 280 (not every chapter is translated anyway)).

I just want to say that Kouji Kumeta is a bloody genius. Continue reading

12 Days of Christmas 2012 #09 – Will Shaft Be Back in Action Next Year?

ZetsubouShaftseries

Can you name all the series in here?

Shaft may be my favorite anime studio, but it has been rather quiet from them lately which is weird considering how they usually create new series all the time. Continue reading

Fall 2012 Previews – The Best Season of All Time

Apparently no-one found the real preview post that was hidden in this one, so I decided to just make it easily accessible instead.

Right, it’s that time of the year again. Another new anime season is about to start which means a ton of new series will be airing, doing its best to live up to our demands of new and shiny things. So let us take a look of the anime fall season of 2012!

Welp, I forgot there is only one series airing this season.

Winter 2012 Previews

Now that the ”12 Days”-project is over, it is time to get serious again. Or, at least, a little serious. Christmas time is relax time for me, a chance to recover slightly from the dreaded school. However, this time, we were loaded with different essays, so in the following week there will not be any lengthy and insightful editorial post for you to read. I am deeply sorry about that, but hey, on the 9th of January there will be a fun little thing starting. And after that, it is back to business as usual! In the meantime, let us check out what the winter season 2012 has in store for us!
