I was hoping, for the sake of the franchise and the characters I had fondness for, that this was not going to turn out to be the abortion that I knew it would. Train-wreck is not the word. This ending was even worse than any worst case scenario that I could have thought up… I’m almost amazed that Bones was somehow able to go lower than my abysmally low expectations for this horribly ill contrived series.

When I first heard of AO I was skeptical since the original story had wrapped up perfectly. So when the first episode aired, I was actually somewhat pleasantly surprised. This feeling did not last long, however, because it soon grew stale. Then it started becoming more and more ridiculous as it went on with trying to connect with the original…

      And then this finale.

Precisely as you said, this was worse than what I had predicted. It wasn’t a trainwreck, no… it was something worse, something that cannot be described by words.

  2. So… Since I’m starting to watch Eureka Seven… I’m assuming that I should skip this?

AO doesn’t exist. Even the final episode clearly stated that by rendering everything in the series pointless. It’s like Bones realized this and decided to go with it because they couldn’t come up with any other way to finish AO.

So, yeah, just watch the original. If you want to, you can watch the movie which is basically just an alternative version to the original (I enjoyed it, but it’s mostly considered poor).

      • Good to know. I’ve wanted to watch the original for a while, but I have to budget my anime-watching time more carefully these days. I don’t have time for troll series. 😀

I completely know what you mean when you talk about budgeting your anime watching time. Like you, my grown man responsibilities often get in the way of cool stuff like my ani-habit so I have to use more moderation in recent years. That’s what makes the fact that I wasted 24 episodes worth of time on this all the more frustrating. Psalms of Planets was one of the best stories I have seen animated so enjoy it and don’t bother with the sequel that never should have been made in AO.

Why are they such Trolls? Bones, why?! 😦

    • Vincent says:

Yes, definitely skip E7AO. It is a massive train wreck that defecates all over the franchise. Completele disaster of a storyboard. Seriously, a 3 year old making up a story about making friends is more compelling than this trash. It is arguably the worst series of the year.

Fuck you Bones. Fuck you!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! You made Eureka lost two children over this? Fuck you!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

    TQ

I like how they didn’t mind leaving Ao behind or the fact that Renton didn’t seem to have anything against attacking Ao. That’s some real parental love, there!

Seriously, I have no idea how they completely messed up Renton’s personality.

I shed a little tear when watching this because I realised that they have violated the wondrous universe and characters of Eureka Seven to create this heap of, well, something. Then I decided to watch Guilty Crown because its stupidity somehow cheered me up. Says a lot really when Guilty Crown is significantly better in every way than this series.

  5. Roykiller says:

Endding should have been Truth Shooting the cannon and letting ao leave with them

    • Marow says:

We can’t have a happy ending! (although, wouldn’t the trapar kill Ao (or was Scub fully erased in the real universe? (but there were trapar in the universe Ao stayed in (although that trapar disappeared quickly when Ao lifted (which means Ao died off-screen (this show is so bad))))))

Any idea if they are going to do a remake to fix the damage they’ve done to the series? when i read what ao was about and its story, i felt pretty sick knowing that they ruined everything that was lovable about the original show. personally id rather they literally rip off the fan fiction on the eureka seven wikia (they actually made a page on ideas for a second adaptation)

What Do You Think?
