100,000 Blog Views and an Apology

Aria41

It has been a while, has it not? It has been roughly one month since I last posted here on Anime Viking and I apologize for that. I will talk more about this after the jump.

To share a little more happy news, I can gladly tell that Anime Viking has reached over 100,000 blog views as of 27th May 2013! This feels like a small, but nice, milestone and shows how long this blog has ventured since it first started. Time sure flies, does it not?

Aria12

But now over to why I have not blogged for a month. The reason for this has been simple: a lack of inspiration and motivation. My will to write disappeared and when I tried sitting down to write it was really hard to churn out words, let alone sentences, that made any sense. This has been the case this last month and is thus the reason there has not been any sort of update. You could call it a slump. And I apologize for that.

However, this brings me to another problem I realized when having this slump: why should I feel sorry? Do not misunderstand me, I am not saying I should just do whatever I want, because that would be irresponsible and not very “me”. What I am trying to say is that writing is merely my hobby. It is a fun thing to do in-between my other hobbies, such as playing video games or watching anime, and not a thing I actually work with. Blogging has been a way to share my thoughts regarding anime and seeing what other people feel about certain topics, which is something I personally love.

If I feel forced to actually write, rather than having fun, then why should I continue? And somewhere around here I started to realize I was starting to become the type of blogger I had told myself not to become when I first started. Namely, I was starting to build a facade. Instead of only writing what I felt regarding a topic, I was also trying to squeeze out something more thoughtful and analytic. I was forcing myself to meet a certain quota of words to make the post feel worth something.

So in a way, you could say I feel thankful for this writing slump. It made me realize I was about to head in the wrong direction. I apologize for this. And I also apologize for not having properly written a post for a whole month. Normally I am the structured and dutiful person, so it hurts a bit. But that is simply a silly personality trait of mine and not something necessarily related to blogging.

Is Anime Viking back in action? Hopefully in a few days. And perhaps in a little more relaxed, but more enjoyable, fashion.

Be sure to let me know what you think!

  2. When your hobby starts feeling like a chore, that’s exactly when you should take a step back. Don’t worry about it. 🙂

  3. I do believe I understand exactly what you mean.

Good luck, and I look forward to anything you write in the future!

You just said that writing is a hobby. A hobby can be a career as well. You could possibly do web design as a career since you made this website even if its from wordpress. You can create websites for people and stick to your blog still. Maybe, if you ever major web design or similar to that, you can create a new anime website and start a business if you wanted to.

Yes, that’s true. But to me, it is a hobby. While I would love to try pursuing such a career, perhaps a writer for a newspaper or something like that, it is not something I aim at, at least not now (the reason being that it’s basically impossible). If someone told me “Hey, become a writer for us!” I would gladly accept the offer, though.

Afraid I’m not going to major in web design, or at least not planning to. I do know enough basic HTML and CSS to create a working website, however! Well, it may not look great, but still!

It all depends on what you want to do with the blog. Unless you want to turn your blog into a career, just remember that you write for fun, not because it is an obligation. Yes, updating your blog is important, but do not update it when you are not feeling the heat dood. You must feel the thunder and crap thunder, not sparks. The OG-Man, when he’s not promoting something, writes with the passion of a hungry bear, ready to swipe some fish. My writing comes from the heart and so should yours dood! You got 100000 legit views for a reason brother. You are liked for a reason. Remember what that reason is dood.

Will do, Master O! Your analogies are wonderful.

This is the embarrassing part where I admit I don’t know 😦

If there’s anything you need to apologize for, it’s the lack of Athena in this post.

Congrats on reaching the 100k milestone!

I completely agree with you, blogging shouldn’t be for someone else, but for yourself. If you don’t enjoy what you’re doing then there’s no point to it.

Yeah I had the same problem with it before, i had half of 2012 without posting, not even visiting my own site but june came and I started once again. it felt good, i also got my friends who wanted to post about anime but aren’t thrilled of starting their own site due to design and lack of viewer so i took them in, and with that my site is now filled with different varieties not just focused on what i am into.
